Hello there, I'm doing some research on firmware over the air and I have a Blackberry Bold 9930 to examine. Sadly I don't seem to find any firmware where there is an actual OTA update available, the option to scan for updates is never in the menu.

I tried 4 different firmwares, I'm flashing with BBSAK. Does anyone know a particular firmware where there is an OTA update available? Or am I missing something? As far as I read, the option should be under options ->device and then there should be a menu entry like 'search for updates' or something. I'm happy about any help with this.

I actually don't care if the OTA updates work horribly, I just want to be able to install the update, flash back to the older version and install the update again. I just need it to find out some things about the OTA mechanisms of a Blackberry. Could it be that I need to insert a SIM card? For all the Android devices I tried I didn't need one but maybe Blackberries behave differently.

So when I understand this correctly I need a SIM card of a carrier who sells / sold the 9930, and this carrier also must provide the OTA updates? I'm not sure I can manage this If anyone has some final clues how I could get an OTA update to work, I'm happy to try anything.
